How / when is it appropriate to play my sets / mixes?
If music is central to your event and you are charging a cover, compensate your music talent. Otherwise, enjoy freely!
Personal / Free Use
For small gatherings that do not charge cover, dance away! Tag me on social media (@djsprenk) and follow my accounts to show support! ❤️
Examples: free house parties, small practice sessions, free community socials.
If your event charges cover, see Paid Events below.
Paid Events
If attendees are paying to be there, you should be compensating your music talent.
Examples: any event that includes a cover charge, paid pass, door fee, required donation, or similar.
In all cases, you should first consider hiring local talent: this is what gives your community artists the space to learn, grow, and maybe become your new favorite DJ!
Exception: Classes / Warmups / Supervised Prácticas
The exceptions here are cases where music is not a central focus.
Examples: class warmups, in-class practice sessions, supervised prácticas, demos.
Community Events
For community events (using local-only talent), a tip is expected but you may otherwise play my mixes without prior agreement. A 1-2x door fee is a reasonable tip per social. You can send it to my Venmo / PayPal.
Examples: recurring socials, unsupervised prácticas.
If you’ve purchased a set from me, it is licensed for use at community events.
Weekenders / Larger Events
Use of my mixes is disallowed for use at larger events without a prior agreement.
If you’d like to license a specific set for a larger event, please contact me in advance. Alternatively, I do offer custom set commissions licensed for larger events.
Examples: intensives, retreats, weekenders, festivals, congresses.
Hired me in the past?
If you’ve hired me or commissioned a set from me in the past you can request copies of sets from your event. While these may not be redistributed, you may use these at your events going forward without further payment.
